I migrated from Pakistan to Hamilton 47 years ago and I really haven’t stopped. I have volunteered at the detention centre in Hamilton for over 10 years now, I help as much as I can… I want to see the inmates on the right track. It isn’t easy out there… I know. I used to get laid off a lot, because even though I was trained in Pakistan, I ended up working at the steel car and then finally was able to do some mechanical drafting later on…but that was the nature of the work I would work and then not work, it was all on contracts you know… Ever since I retired I have buried myself in the financial sector, at the age of 70 I consult people and businesses on bankruptcy. It’s great… I have my own office… I don’t go in often, I go in whenever I want and I think that is the best thing to do…I don’t know, ageing… ageing means nothing, I guess it is like elderly or senior, it sounds like a downslide, but the funny thing is that we all age…”
